Conditions We Treat

Hip Pain

Hip dysfunction often presents alongside lumbar restriction. We assess the full kinetic chain — lower back, pelvis, SI joint, and hip — rather than treating any structure in isolation.

Hip pain is rarely just a hip problem. The hip joint sits at the intersection of the lumbar spine, the pelvis, and the lower extremity — and dysfunction in any of those regions can generate or perpetuate hip symptoms. Treating the hip in isolation, without addressing the lumbar mechanics and pelvic alignment that load it, produces incomplete results.

At Spine Bar, hip pain is assessed as part of the full kinetic chain. We evaluate lumbar mobility, sacroiliac joint mechanics, hip flexor length, and hip joint ROM before deciding where to direct treatment. Many hip pain patients have SI joint dysfunction or L3–L5 restriction that’s loading the hip abnormally — and correcting that upstream is where lasting relief comes from.

Soft tissue work to the hip flexors, glutes, and lateral hip musculature, combined with lumbopelvic adjustment, addresses both the local pain and the mechanical driver behind it.

Common causes

  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Hip flexor tightness or strain
  • Lumbar restriction loading the hip
  • Gluteal weakness and pelvic drop
  • Bursitis or tendinopathy
  • Labral irritation from altered mechanics

What to Expect

Your first visit for hip pain

Hip evaluation includes lumbar, pelvic, and hip joint assessment together. We’ll identify whether the pain source is the hip itself or driven by spinal and pelvic mechanics above it. Treatment begins same visit and typically addresses multiple regions.
